About

Starting as a Production Assistant in 2007, Matt Harvey is now an award-winning filmmaker.

In 2011 he Production Designed his first feature film and for the past decade has been Production Designing & Art Directing Features, TV, and Commercials. A master of turning concept art into large-scale set builds, he’s completed over 150 projects for clients including Netflix, Spotify, Rolex, Apple, and many others, joining the Art Director’s Guild in 2014.

From 2016 to 2018 Matt Harvey lived and worked part-time in Istanbul, Turkey and spent many months traveling Italy. These ancient places manifested a deeper understanding of the social, economic, and environmental factors impacting the design choices made throughout history. This lead him to approach understanding a character through the choices they make (or have no control over) and the environment they inhabit.

A story’s setting heavily impacts a character’s feelings and perception of the world as they move through their arc and thus their surroundings require a high level of detail. This approach creates a collaborative environment resulting in richly layered sets and heightened performances from actors.

When he is not Production Designing, he can be found collaborating with artists on installations, designing and building furniture, or playing Polo, his second greatest love behind a career in film.
